Order of the month: Trekking. I urgently need to air myself! We have September, not deep of winter as a consequence ;), so I don’t need to go too far away to find some warmth. Spain seems to be a good choice. To be more precise the Balearic island of Minorca. As it offers, I’ve recently learned, the stunning trail Cami de Cavalls (Catalonian for ‘horse trail’).
This ancient path encircles the island and got reopened, means completely available to public just since 2010. Still part of the path belongs to private properties used as farm and grazing land what needs to be closed by gates. So never forget to shut doors!
The path is almost ever directly along the coastline, makes it possible to always keep the ocean in sight and is use to reach all of the most inaccessible beaches on the island, connecting them in a (sometimes literally) breathtaking way. The route covers 190 kilometers distance, divided into walkable stages, 8 to 18 km each.
Joerg is going to join me and we consider ourselves as CdC trekking pioneers because information and maps are not really available. Honestly, never before I’ve spent more time with preparing a tour than it took at the end. But hey, it’s summer, everything will be easy going.
So off we go …
